Recently, a Xiangtan government-sponsored press conference on the decision of choosing Geely FC as the type of taxi the city would use was held. A series of activities of trial use were also held. The press conference as well as the trial use indicated that three hundred Geely cars were formally introduced to Xiangtan’s taxi market. Municipal government officials attending the ceremony said that the decision on choosing Geely FC as the type of taxi the city would use might benefit the city in three aspects: upgrading Xiangtan’s taxi market; boosting the city’s image and creating a national first-rate tourist city.

It’s reported that introducing FC taxi to Xiangtan is an implementation of a policy formulated by Xiangtan municipal party committee and municipal government. The theme of this major policy is: Ensuring economic growth through “Hundreds of thousands project” plan. The use of the car is also based on a proposal made by Xiangtan municipal government about car production. The topic of the proposal is supporting the development of home-made brand names. Introducing FC car to Xiangtan’s taxi market is an indication of the municipal government officials’ determination to support local enterprises and home-made brand names.

At the press conference, Hu Bianjiang, director of Geely Xiangtan Base, read out a letter of commitment on the services items promised by Xiangtan taxi industry. According to Hu, the three hundred new FC taxi put to use at Xiangtan would enjoy free of charge maintenance twice a year (including new engine oil and filtrating). Free of charge home service once a year and 150 yuan worth of souvenir were also promised. The promises made by Geely also included a timely maintenance and the creation of spare parts green corridor. Other assurances promised by Geely would involve various activities such as “Safe Driving and Concern Along the Way”; “Free of charge heater test in winter” and “Free of charge air-conditioner test in summer” etc..

Trial Use of Geely FC Taxi

After the press conference, Geely arranged a demonstration of FC’s performance for those present. Over 50 taxi drivers from Taxi Company drove Geely Yuanjing for a trial. “From the trial use, it seems Geely FC is spacious and comfortable in terms of its interior, “A Mr. Zhang with six years’ working experience told the reporter. “The air-conditioning is satisfying. When we tried to shift the engine, doing starting and continuation all sorts of stuff, the car gave a strong sense of acceleration. The gearbox and engine work together smoothly. The clutch only needs a short path. The throttle isn’t that noisy and responds quickly. It’s quite good. Very Good!”
