Five Star in Collision Test: Geely Panda Appraised as the Safest Minicar in China
On December 29, it was learned from the National Passenger Car Quality Supervision and Inspection Center that Geely Panda was titled “the King of Safety” by its prominent score (45.3) in C-NCAP test, and it became China’s first independently-researched minicar achieving five-star performance in collision test. Therefore, Geely Panda is regarded as the safest minicar in China.
Evaluation report from the National Passenger Car Quality Supervision and Inspection Center reveals that Geely Panda’s five-star performance in C-NCAP test symbolizes that the passive safety technology of domestic independently-researched minicar has approached the international level. It is learned that Geely Panda has experienced frontal complete collision test, frontal angle collision test, and side collision test, and the final performance is based on Geely Panda’s scores in the above three tests.
Geely Panda, Geely Group’s first classic minicar, is the second bionic minicar in the wake of Volkswagen’s Beetle in global market. By fashionable outline and classic shape, Geely Panda receives warm welcome from the market since being launched. While upholding the philosophy of “Classic Design”, Geely Panda’s R & D team, by adhering to the tenet of “the Safest, the Most Energy-saving, and the Most Environmentally-friendly”, firstly introduced system safety engineering into the independently-researched minicar sector instead of adopting traditional development method of “Simple Design and Low-end Configuration”. In Geely Panda’s entire R & D process from complete vehicle development to components supply, safety standard always prevails: only the design which meets the safety standard can be approved, and only manufacturers that abides by safety standard can be granted qualification.
The spokesman of Geely Group says: after Geely set the prospect to produce the first family car achieving four-star performance in C-NCAP test in 2008, Geely Group put forward the goal that all vehicles marketed in the future shall meet the four-star or even five-star standard. Now, Geely Panda’s five-star performance manifests that Geely has hit a historical high in automobile safety control, fully exemplifying Geely’s advanced production technology and safety technology as well as implying Geely’s significant breakthrough and success in coporation strategic transformation.
It's learnt that Geely Panda, the representative of G3 minicars, was warmly responded in the market; in particular, it stirred “Panda” tide among urban youth. Therefore, Geely Panda successfully shatters the market bottleneck of domestic independently-researched minicars, and it is the first minicar of independent brand entering mainstream consumption market.
