Geely Introduction
Geely Group Co., Ltd (Hereafter as Geely) founded on Nov. 6 ,1986.
made its debut in manufacturing parts of refrigerator-evaporator
located in Huangyan, Luqiao , Taizhou city, Zhejiang Province.
1989 Geely Entered into the production of advanced decoration
material industry and manufactured the first magnalium bent board
in China
On April, 1994 ,Geely set its foot in motorcycle industry and
the same of June , The first scooter motor was manufactured in
China by Geely. In 1995 the total sales up to 60,000 and in 1996
up to 200,000. and became the main motorcycle manufacturer enterprise
in China.
On May,1996 , Geely Group Co., Ltd was organized.
On March,1997 Geely start into High-education industry. Now Geely
have three colleges, Beijing Geely University became one of the
private-owned universities which has the independent right to
authorize High Education Diploma in Beijing city.
1997 Geely set its foot in Automobile Industry.
On August 8, 1998 . The first Geely Car launched off in Linhai
City Zhejiang Province.
On November 9,2001 and December 26,2001. China State Economic
and Trade Commission has approved Geely Automobile; JL6360, HQ6360,MR6370
and MR7130 series to be listed on SETC automobile products public
catalogue. Geely automobile became the first approved private
enterprise in terms of automobile manufacture in China.
On May.25,2003, Mr Xugang, once was a member of Zhejiang Provincial
Financial Hall Leading party members’ Group, chief accountant
of Local Taxation Bureau of Zhejiang Province, came to Geely group
as CEO, indicate Geely toward to a professional manger-operated
enterprise from family-operated one.
On Oct.1,2002 Mr. Ke Shouliang, a famous Hong Kong act movie star
fly over the mountain top—Potala Palace Square challenge the utmost
and accompanied the remarkable achievement and also show the brand
image of Geely.
On Dec.,2002, Geely made contracts with Daewoo International Co.,
Ltd and Maggiora S.p.A a famous Italy automobile project group
with respectively to develop CK-1 and CI-1 automobile project.
On Dec.,2002, Geely made strategy corporation with several Shanghai
and Zhejiang commercial banks
In 2002, Chairman Li Shufu was listed on the top of “Men of the
Time in China’s Automobile Industry”, granted by the Development
Research Center under the State Council as “Chinese Management
Master”, and elected by Chinese Association for Enterprises and
Chinese Association for Entrepreneurs as “Entrepreneur Drawing
the Most Attention”, and by Sohu.com as “Ten Major Star Entrepreneurs”
and by Wancai Press, Sina.com and Beijing Youth Daily as “the
Most Popular Entrepreneur”. In July 203, Chairman Li Shufu was
listed by Vehicle Star Network as one of the “50 Most Influential
Persons in China’s Automotive Industry in the 50 Years”.
Over the past years, the enterprise has been granted by China
Association for Quality Inspection, the State Bureau of Quality
and Technical Supervision, Zhejiang Province Consumers Association
and other departments and agencies as “National Advanced Enterprise
with Satisfactory Product Quality and After-sales Services”, “Product
with Traced Quality and Reputation”, “Enterprise with Advanced
Protection of Consumer Rights”, “Top Ten Enterprises with Customer
Satisfaction in Product Quality and After-sales Services”, and
a range of other titles. It is also an enterprise of quality –
economic effect type in Zhejiang Province and a technologically
leading enterprise in Zhejiang Province. Geely brand products
have been awarded “Products Recommended by Zhejiang Province Consumers
Association” and provincial and municipal renowned products. Geely
trademark has been awarded “Renowned Trademark” of the province
and the city. Chairman Li Shufu has been titled Zhejiang Province
Star Young Township Entrepreneur, New Long March Shock Worker
of Zhejiang Province, Young Reformer of Zhejiang Province, Director
of an Enterprise with Advanced Economy of Scale during the Eight
Five-Year Plan Period, Outstanding Township Entrepreneur of Zhejiang
Province, National-level Outstanding Director of a Township Entrepreneur,
National Township Entrepreneur, etc.
In 2003, the group still focuses on the core business of automotive
industry, and accelerates its paces by improving management, capital,
technology and human resource.
On Jan.16,2003, Geely Group Management Headquarter settle in Hangzhou
Hi-Tech Industry Development Zone.
On January 28, 2003, the general assembly plant in Taizhou Geely
Automotive City, which is expected to produce 300,000 units of
vehicles per year, was built up. Beauty Leopard sports car, which
was awarded “Special Prize in Innovative Design in Chinese Industry”
by the 2nd China Industrial Design Forum, launched off here.
On March 6, the self-developed MR479Q series of electronic control
sequential fuel injection engine products passed the certification
at the expert certification meeting. The engines have reached
the advanced level of the similar domestic products, and created
the history that a Chinese sedan car manufacturer, for the very
first time, adopts its self-developed and produced four-cylinder
electronic fuel injection engines.
On March 24,2003 Founded Zhejiang Geely Holding (Group) Co., Ltd.
On March 30,2003 Founded Zhejiang Geely Guo.Run Automobile Co.,
Ltd with Hong Kong Main Board company Guo.Run Holding Co., Ltd.
On April ,2003 , The one hundred thousand Geely car launched off.
On May,2003, Geely sparkplug automobile popularization and renovate
the newest and lowest price of the automobile in the automobile
industry.
On June, 2003. Geely make a technical cooperation agreement with
German Rucker Company.
2003 Once the General Manager of SAIC Volkswagen , Vice President
of FAW Volkswagen Group, President of Dongfeng Automobile Institute
Research, General Engineer of Nanjing FIAT, Chief Representative
of German BMW and General Manager of China region after service
company of Benz company and so on come into Geely.
In the first half of 2003, the group produced 34360 units of cars,
sharing 3.84% of the total car market, and 13% of the market of
the sedan cars of the similar grade.
To take off for the second time, the group is making effort to
establish Geely brand, and a modern joint stock enterprise group
with excellent corporate culture, highly efficient capital operation
capability, modern management ideas, participation of all staffs
in making innovations, overall quality management system, powerful
economic strength, and the harmonious development of the core
business of automotive industry and higher education and real
estate.
Within five years, we will expand the four production bases to
manufacture both medium-grad and low grade cars including two-compartment
and three-compartment economical sedan cars, fashionable sport
cars, SRV cards, etc. We will have a production capability of
600,000 units per year at that time. We will manufacture stylish
and economical two-compartment sedan cars in large quantity, make
a firm step in developing small three-compartment multifunctional
SRV and medium-grade cars, and build up the two major brand names
of Geely and Huapu, so that Geely can break the existing pattern
of the domestic automotive industry and build up its status as
economical family sedan car giant. We will step foot into the
automakers of the world, and play an increasing important role
in the world automotive market.
