Mr. Li Shufu established Geely in 1986 in China's rapidly evolving white good's industry before expanding into the construction and home improvement sector in 1989. Four years later in 1993, Mr. Li extended the firm into the manufacture of motorcycles and in 1997 launched into the auto sector.

Over the past 20-years, Mr. Li has focused his attention on two key passions – the auto sector and education. Geely has become China's largest independent private auto firm. Meanwhile, Mr. Li pursues his commitment to education via the Mingtai Group, which is China's largest private educational organisation. As one of China's top ten businessmen, Mr Li is recognised as one of the country's leading entrepreneurs in the auto sector and also one of the country's top philanthropists.

Mr. Li was born in 1963 in Zhejiang province. He holds a Masters degree in engineering from Yanshan University.
