MILESTONES
1986  
November Geely was founded on the 6th November 1986.
1998  
August The Geely Haoqing SRV rolled off the production line.
1999  
August Construction of Geely’s new Ningbo production facility began.
2000  
May The inaugural Geely Meiri rolled off the new Ningbo production facility.
2001  
October Geely’s JI-6360 model was certified by the government making Geely the first private company qualified to be producing automobiles in China.
2003  
August Geely exported its first car outside of China.
2004  
October Geely established a formal operations and management committee under the leadership of the firm’s chairman of the board, Li Shufu.
2005  
May Geely Automobile Holdings listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange
September Geely participated in the 61st Frankfurt Auto Show becoming the first Chinese automobile manufacturer to exhibit at the Frankfurt Auto Show during which it exhibited its China Dragon, Freedom Fleet, Vision, Haoqing and Marindo models.
December Geely launched the “Future Talent Fund”, a charitable programme designed to help students train as engineers.
2006  
January Geely’s 4G18 engine, Geely’s self-developed automatic transmission, and the Geely EPS intelligent steering booster were displayed at the Chinese national innovation exhibition.
July The RMB50 million Guangcai Geely Education Aid programme was established and launched at a ceremony at the Great Hall of the People.
2007  
March Geely formed a joint venture with Manganese Bronze Holdings, makers of the London Taxi. Geely owns a 52% stake in Shanghai LTI Automobile Ltd. producing this iconic car in China.
May The Geely operations and management committee announced its international strategy and focus on new markets outside of China.
2008  
January Geely participated at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, winning the Special Contribution Grand Prize for Invention and Creation for its Blow-out Monitoring and Brake System (“BMBS”), a unique safety system independently developed by Geely.
May Geely, together with its employees, suppliers and marketing agents, donated RMB 10 million to support relief efforts following the Sichuan Wenchuan earthquake.
May In addition, Geely launched the “Geely Future Talent Fund” and the “Li Shufu Education Fund” with donations totalling RMB 12.5 million.
2009  
June Geely completed the acquisition of Australian headquartered Drivetrain Systems International Pty Ltd.
July Geely launched the new independently developed Emgrand EC718 from its Ningbo production facilities.
