January 15, 2025, Giza, Egypt -- Geely Auto has inaugurated and successfully began production of its global best-selling models, the Coolray and Emgrand, at the BAMC plant in 6th of October City, Giza, Egypt. Distinguished guests were in attendance during the ceremony, including Egyptian Prime Minister Madbouly and Deputy Prime Minister Wazir. As Geely's inaugural CKD facility in Africa and the Middle East, this state-of-the-art plant will catalyze the modernization of Egypt's automotive manufacturing sector while bringing world-class intelligent mobility solutions to local customers.
World-class Intelligent Manufacturing Empowers Egyptian Auto Industry
Geely’s Egypt CKD plant is the country’s first advanced facility capable of producing both sedans and SUVs on the same production line. The CKD plant leverages laser welding technology and industrial robotics, a first in Egypt, to achieve significantly higher manufacturing precision and superior product quality. Utilizing the flexibility and scalability of Geely’s BMA architecture, the plant boasts Egypt’s first dual-platform production line, pioneering significant advancements in manufacturing processes and production efficiency. Operating in line with Geely’s global standards, the plant adheres to a strict quality management system and has earned multiple international certifications, including IATF16949, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001. With an annual production capacity of approximately 30,000 units over the next three years, the facility is poised to expand its localization efforts by assembling additional models in the near future.

Geely’s globally renowned models - the Emgrand, a benchmark in compact sedans, and the powerful intelligent SUV Coolray - have officially commenced localized production in Egypt. Thanks to their exceptional handling, outstanding comfort, and versatile space design, the Coolray surpassed one million global sales in early January 2025, while the Emgrand is on track to reach 4 million global users. The local production of these two flagship models not only significantly enhances supply chain responsiveness but also offers Egyptian consumers a more tailored driving experience, fully demonstrating Geely Auto’s commitment to quality and excellence.
