Johannesburg, November 18, 2025 — Geely Auto has officially made its debut in the South African market. The brand launch event, hosted at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg, marked the introduction of Geely’s first two new energy vehicles (NEVs) to South African consumers: the all-electric SUV Geely E5 and the plug-in hybrid SUV Geely E5 EM-i.

A Sensory Brand Experience

Under the theme “The Full Effect,” over 200 guests were invited to an immersive brand experience that brought together South Africa’s magnificent landscapes and Geely’s advanced automotive technology. Through on-site experiences and in-depth test drives, participants explored the vehicles’ intelligent features, refined performance, and driver-centric innovations—showcasing Geely’s commitment to combining cutting-edge technology with human-focused design.

Commitment to South Africa and Beyond

Allen Yang, GM of Geely Auto South Africa, highlighted South Africa’s strategic importance within Geely’s global expansion:As one of Africa’s key economies, South Africa will serve as Geely’s strategic hub for the entire continent. The establishment of Geely Auto South Africa represents more than an entry into the market—it reflects our long-term commitment to grow with local consumers and partners. For us, customer satisfaction always comes first. We believe new energy vehicles are not merely modes of transport, but gateways to a richer, more connected lifestyle.”

Building a Complete Local Value Chain

To ensure sustainable growth and high-quality service in South Africa, Geely is rapidly advancing its full-value-chain localization strategy. The company has joined forces with leading local partners including Bidvest McCarthy and Supergroup (dealership), WesBank (automotive finance), Rubicon (charging infrastructure), Buffalo (logistics and warehousing), and Key Alliance Group (roadside assistance), etc. Together, they will deliver an integrated, premium ownership experience for South African customers.

In terms of dealership network: By the end of 2025, Geely plans to establish 40 dealerships across major cities such as Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban, expanding to 90 by 2026 and over 120 in subsequent phases for nationwide coverage.

In terms of products: The launch of the Geely E5 and Geely E5 EM-i aligns with South Africa’s electrification strategy. Geely will continue introducing diverse powertrain options including Hatchbacks, SUVs, and MPVs, with additional brands such as Zeekr and Farizon under the broader Geely Auto Group, scheduled to enter the market to meet varied consumer needs.

For after-sales and service: The launch also introduces the Geely Care+ service brand, supported by a 3,500-square-meter parts warehouse with a 96% parts fulfillment rate and same-day delivery for urgent orders. Qualified consultants and technicians within the dealer network will ensure an industry-leading service experience.
