Geely Preface TCR Valencia

A historic triple-win weekend extends Geely’s winning momentum and sends Urrutia to the top of the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour standings.

Geely Group Motorsport and Geely Cyan Racing delivered another landmark performance at the second round of the 2026 Kumho FIA TCR World Tour, sweeping all three races in Valencia as Santiago Urrutia became the first driver in major international touring car history to win three races in a single race weekend.

Competing on Circuit Ricardo Tormo’s new 3.1km layout in temperatures exceeding 30°C, the Geely Preface TCR demonstrated outstanding pace, consistency and reliability throughout one of the toughest events of the season. Urrutia’s historic hat-trick also delivered the first triple-victory weekend for the Geely Preface TCR in the FIA TCR World Tour and moved him to the top of the drivers’ championship with a 20-point advantage over teammate Thed Björk.

Across the four-car Geely Cyan Racing line-up, Björk climbed to second in the championship after another consistent weekend, while Yann Ehrlacher and Ma Qinghua both showed strong pace despite incidents affecting their results. Together, the team further strengthened its position in both the Drivers’ and Teams’ Championship.

Geely dominates in Valencia

The weekend opened with a commanding one-two finish as Urrutia controlled Race 1 ahead of teammate Björk, highlighting the Geely Preface TCR’s pace, tyre management and consistency in the demanding conditions. Ma Qinghua and Ehrlacher both encountered early setbacks that limited their opportunities to challenge at the front.

Race 2 produced one of the standout performances of the weekend. Starting eighth on the reverse grid, Urrutia climbed to third on the opening lap before charging into the lead to claim his second victory of the weekend. Ma Qinghua crossed the finish line inside the top three before a marginal track-limits penalty dropped him to fourth, while Björk added valuable championship points with sixth place.

Starting from pole position for the final race of the weekend, Urrutia completed the clean sweep with a controlled lights-to-flag victory, becoming the first driver in major international touring car history to win all three races during a single race weekend. Björk once again finished second to secure another one-two result for Geely Cyan Racing, while Ehrlacher recovered to seventh after a difficult weekend. Ma Qinghua retired following first-lap contact that caused race-ending damage to his car.

Three victories from three races, together with two one-two finishes, capped a dominant weekend for Geely Cyan Racing and underlined the competitiveness of the Geely Preface TCR in some of the toughest conditions of the season.

Following victories in both Misano and Valencia, the team heads to the French round with growing championship momentum as the Geely Preface TCR continues its impressive debut campaign in the FIA TCR World Tour.

Quotes

Santiago Urrutia, Driver, Car #181

“Three races, three wins—it’s an incredible weekend. The team gave me a fantastic car from the first session to the final lap, and achieving something like this in the FIA TCR World Tour is very special. This puts us in a strong position in the championship, but the season is still long. We’ll stay focused, keep improving and continue pushing together. A huge thank you to Geely and Cyan Racing for making this possible.”

Thed Björk, Driver, Car #111

“It has been a productive weekend. Two second-place finishes and a strong points haul mean I’m now second in the championship, while Santiago achieved something truly historic with three victories. The Geely Preface TCR has shown excellent pace all weekend, but we know there’s still more performance to unlock. We’ll continue working to make sure all four cars can fight consistently at the front.”

Yann Ehrlacher, Driver, Car #168

“It was a difficult weekend on our side of the garage, but there are still plenty of positives. We demonstrated the pace of the Geely Preface TCR by taking pole position despite carrying 30 kilograms of compensation weight. Unfortunately, the Race 1 retirement affected the rest of our weekend, but we’ll analyze everything and come back stronger for my home race in France.”

Ma Qinghua, Driver, Car #155

“Race 3 ended in disappointment after first-lap contact caused damage to the car and forced us to retire. Even so, this weekend has been extremely valuable from a development perspective. Racing in such demanding conditions on a new circuit allowed us to collect a huge amount of data, which will help us continue improving the Geely Preface TCR. Congratulations to Santiago and the whole team on an outstanding result.”
